Suffolk's MENTA to host General Data Protection Regulation Conference
The 25th May 2018 may seem some time away, however, to plan for compliance with the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will take most companies’ and businesses, time to prepare.
MENTA has announced that it will host a GDPR Conference at Copdock Hall in November, providing expert advice on planning for GDPR and insights into the new legislation and how to ensure compliance.
GDPR is the most significant business legislation change in a generation and is the biggest data protection reform in 20 years.
It’s been reported that up to 97% of companies do not have a plan in place to become GDPR compliant
The conference will outline the impending regulation and the challenges facing businesses, as well as offering solutions and ideas on implementing management systems to meet the new requirements.
Guest speakers will give their perspective on the regulation change. Robert Masson of The DPO centre a nationwide specialist GDPR compliance consultancy will introduce why this regulation will have a profound effect on businesses and he’ll provide practical steps to take in order to ensure compliance prior to the May 2018 deadline.
Claire Brooks of Box-it East, based in Bury St Edmunds will explain the importance of hard copy document security and management and the importance of clear indexing.
Colin Mayson of the BSI Group will focus on the various ISO certifications and how assurance and certification validates processes and procedures and how these help businesses to demonstrate that they have embedded best practice within their organisation.
Jo Hocking of Hugh J Boswell will provide tips and ideas on what insurance options are available.
Visitors to the event will have the opportunity to ask the speakers in-depth questions about GDPR and take part in relaxed business networking over refreshments.
Alex Till, CEO of MENTA said, “MENTA are delighted to be hosting this conference and supporting the local business community by sharing knowledge and best practice.
It is such an important subject which will affect so many businesses, including SME’s and micro businesses, We’ve planned masterclasses which will be held on various dates after the conference to ensure owners and staff have the in-depth knowledge and information they need to comply with the new regulation.”
