Business networking provides an opportunity to exchange ideas and information with other business owners and the opportunity to meet potential clients and suppliers. Mixing with other business owners in this way is an important practice for every business owner or freelancer to adopt. It can be daunting for a beginner, but networking is a core business skill that brings many benefits.

For many people the ultimate purpose of networking is to generate new business by finding potential new business partners and obtaining word-of-mouth referrals, recommendations and introductions.

Leanne Castle at MENTA, Suffolk’s business support organisation said, “Effective business networking is the linking together of business people who, through trust and relationship building, become walking, talking advertisements for one another.

“MENTA’s monthly Coffee Means Business networking events held in Bury St Edmunds, Haverhill and Woodbridge are  friendly and informal and a great way of building those all important business contacts. I’ve seen great relationships built up and business done from these connections.”

Anita Costello of Anita4Bowen is a Bowen Technique practitioner and a regular attendee at Coffee Means Business Bury St Edmunds she said, “Making new contacts as well as seeing others on a regular basis keeps your visibility high, they then remember you when they need your services. Networking is about listening and asking questions of other business owners, not about pushing your own business.

“Coffee Means Business is a cost effective and very friendly way to network. I’ll be at the event in Bury St Edmunds on Thursday 11 May and will be giving a short presentation about my business.”

The next Coffee Means Business in Haverhill (held at Frankie and Benny’s) is on Thursday 27 April and in Bury St Edmunds at The Clubhouse, Bury Town Football Club on Thursday 11 May. Both events run from 9.30am until 11.30amand booking isn’t essential.
