Vanguard Communications may be a relatively new SME, but it operates with a think big approach and its founders Elaine and Nigel Bowen are taking the challenges of a new business start-up in their stride with the support of the Suffolk Business Enterprise Agency, MENTA.
Vanguard Communications is a telecommunications company specialising in Unified Communications, adding value and resilience to businesses through the combined delivery of extensive expertise and innovative technology; corporate-class business communication solutions, supported by unrivalled customer service from an independent business. Working predominantly with businesses across Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire, Vanguard provides customers with a local service that is particularly beneficial from both pre and after-sales perspectives, taking the stress out of comparing costs from various suppliers so you can get on with your day job.
Vanguard brings a long history of corporate expertise into SMEs who don’t always realise the value or accessibility of having complete telephony packages including systems, broadband and mobiles through one provider. They can change the way people work and communicate, helping to significantly reduce operational costs.
Directors Elaine and Nigel Bowen bring in excess of 65 years combined corporate Service Delivery and Telecommunications best practice to the company and share a passion to use their expertise to benefit their clients and to put their customers first.
Whilst they are technology experts Elaine and Nigel knew that for their business to be a success, they would require business support, particularly for business finance and marketing, as neither of them had much experience in this field. This is where the local business advice, training and support of Menta have been fundamental. Networking and building strong relationships with local providers have been key to Vanguard’s early stages of substantial success.
We believe it is essential to have an understanding and working knowledge of every aspect of our business and are keen to broaden our skill-set to facilitate this. Menta has been unwavering in its support, and the array of courses available to us is proving invaluable. As a new company we are proud to have already won the coveted Theo Paphitis #SBS (Small Business Sunday) Award in June 2015, secured a contract worth 25% of our projected first year turnover within one week of trading which allowed us to have substantial evidence to enter our first business awards, recently winning the Bury Free Press Best New Start-up Award.
I had no idea there was so much support available, having MENTA on board has been transformational, and we are incredibly lucky to have access to such a trailblazing and enviable service right on our doorstep. We are exceptionally grateful it’s available to us, and being able to tap into such varied expertise is so reassuring and fantastic for new businesses.
