Interview Requirements: The interviews will be held at MENTA, Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk and you’ll be expected to prepare and present a short presentation at this interview. You will also be expected to provide samples of your work

 

Contract type: 12 month fixed term contract

 

Hours: Part-time: 6 days per month (42 Hours per month/72 Days per annum)

 

Salary: £10,800 for 72 days per annum – funded 100% through ERDF

 

Location: The main office is at The Vision Centre, 5 Eastern Way, Bury St Edmunds IP32 7AB however you will be required to travel to other parts of Suffolk and Norfolk, on occasions

Overview:  

MENTA – The Suffolk Enterprise Agency is committed to developing individuals in the local area to develop their skills, confidence and experience to ultimately set up and grow their own businesses.

This is an excellent opportunity to join MENTA’s team delivering the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Start-Up Programme to support start-up businesses.  You will be one of three part-time Business Advisors delivering training and advice across Suffolk and Norfolk.

This is a varied role and it is anticipated that 50% of your time (although not guaranteed) will be to deliver workshops either at our offices in Bury St Edmunds or at other locations within Suffolk and Norfolk.  Although workshop content is provided, you will require excellent knowledge of Business Planning, Marketing and Book Keeping skills and have the ability to impart information to groups of clients who may have a wide range of knowledge and abilities. 

Correct completion of ERDF paperwork is crucial to the success of the project and you will be expected to work diligently and proactively to achieve this.

Client follow-through via email, telephone and 1-1 meetings will take up the remainder of your time and you will have a monthly target to achieve.  You will need excellent communication skills to obtain necessary information to conform to ERDF requirements.  Where agreed by the client, you will produce profiles of their businesses for marketing and PR purposes.

This role will receive funding through ERDF. European Regional Development Fund.

JOB PURPOSE

Working as part of a small team, you will provide expert business advice and training (workshop content is provided) to support start-up businesses, whilst ensuring that all ERDF requirements are met.

SUMMARY OF MAIN RESPONSIBLITIES AND ACTIVITIES

·       Adhere to ERDF project requirements

·       Deliver MENTA Business ‘Start Right’ workshops, and any other workshops as necessary within Suffolk and Norfolk. 

·       Provide impartial business advice to start-up businesses

·       Achieve targets of business starts and obtain required evidential information

·       Ensure all necessary paperwork is completed accurately and timely

·       Develop start-up business profiles for marketing and PR purposes

.        Work flexibly within the whole MENTA team

PERSON SPECIFICATION

·        Hold a Business Adviser SFEDI accreditation

·        Have experience in working within EU / ERDF projects

·        Be current with start-up business needs

·        Be an experienced Trainer (PTLLS qualification would be an advantage)

·        Have excellent time management skills

·        Have a strong attention to detail

·        Have excellent communication skills including telephone and email

·        Be self-motivated, but have a ‘can do’ and ‘hands on’ approach to helping the wider team

·        Be flexible with changing work and project requirements as necessary

·        Hold a valid driving license and be prepared to travel within Suffolk and Norfolk
